The Table Rock Lakeshore Trail
The Table Rock Lakeshore Trail starts at Dewey Short Visitors Center on Hwy. 165 just past the dam. It’s a paved trail; not difficult. You can see the lake for almost the entire trail which ends at the Marina.
White River Valley Trail System
Just on down 165 on the other side is the White River Valley Trail System with several trails to choose from. This is more rugged with dirt and rocks, steeper inclines, etc. It is still a beautiful place to walk but more difficult.
Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area
A third area we’ve walked is the Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area located on Fall Creek Road right off Hwy. 76. You may choose your trail of choice based on difficulty. They have added a new entrance and some additional trails, one which runs right by the lake if you want to walk down 300+ steps to the lake. At the top of these pictured steps is the Lyle Owens’ home. We were on a guided tour and were allowed inside the home. Quite interesting. Also, you can see Lake Taneycomo from the home and also College of the Ozarks.
